Cub Scout Pack 552

Adult volunteers

Here’s how to make it official

A pack is run entirely by parents. There is no staff — what the year looks like is exactly what we collectively make it.

Most roles take an hour or two a month. Some are once a year. You do not need Scouting experience, and you will not be handed something and left alone with it.

Four steps to register

  1. Create a Scouting accountAlready have a my.Scouting login? Skip ahead. Otherwise sign up at accounts.scouting.org/register.
  2. Apply to our packThe application link opens our unit automatically. Pick the position we talked about, or choose Committee Member if you are not sure yet.
  3. Consent to a background checkStandard for every registered adult in Scouting. You authorize it as part of the application — nothing extra to fill out.
  4. Take Youth Protection TrainingAbout 90 minutes, free, online, at your own pace at my.scouting.org. It is genuinely excellent — practical, clearly taught, and useful well beyond Scouting.

The pack pays you back. Registration is $85 — pay it, keep your receipt, and send it to our Treasurer. Being a pack leader costs you time, not money.

Why register, and not just help out

Two registered adults, every time

You help the pack stay official

Every Cub Scout activity needs two registered adults present. Parents are always at events — trained leaders are what make them possible. May as well be both.

A uniform, when you’re ready

Not required on day one. When you want one, it comes from the Scout Shop or the Bozeman store at 1902 W. Dickerson Ste 104.

Where you could land

The roles a pack runs on

  • Den Leader
  • Committee Chair
  • Treasurer
  • Advancement
  • Popcorn Coordinator
  • Recruitment
  • Communications
  • Medical Officer
  • Sign-Ups
  • Community Liaison
  • Event Helper

Which of these are open changes through the year. Email us and we will tell you what needs doing right now — and what would actually fit you.

None of them fit? Help anyway. Drive, bring snacks, run one station at one event, take photos. Tell us the time and talent you have and we will find the shape that fits.
